Staff Wireless Systems Engineer

About the role

Skylo is looking for a Staff Wireless Systems Engineer to lead the design of an AI‑enhanced non‑terrestrial network (NTN) radio access network (RAN). The role sits in the CTO group in Espoo, Finland and combines deep wireless system expertise with machine‑learning techniques to create intelligent signal‑processing and protocol solutions for satellite‑based connectivity.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and implement ML models that optimise L2/L3 protocol layers for high‑latency satellite environments.
• Develop AI‑driven PHY‑layer algorithms such as neural‑network‑based channel estimation, signal detection and interference mitigation.
• Design data‑generation frameworks across the RAN stack, using synthetic methods, sandbox platforms and live data for model training and validation.
• Influence Skylo’s technical roadmap, generate patents and define certification road‑maps with chipset and OEM partners.
• Review complex system designs, create rigorous test plans for AI models and mentor engineering teams across global sites.

Required profile

• 8+ years of wireless systems engineering experience with strong focus on L1/L2/L3 design and RAN architecture.
• Hands‑on expertise in training, fine‑tuning and deploying ML models for wireless communications.
• Deep knowledge of 3GPP NR‑NTN, LTE and NB‑IoT protocols.
• PhD or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to lead cross‑functional collaborations.
