Senior System Specialist – LUMI-AI Lead Admin

About the role

Join a diverse, international team at CSC to lead the development and administration of the upcoming LUMI‑AI supercomputer. You will build on the expertise of the current EuroHPC pre‑exascale LUMI system, which operates around 5,000 HPC servers and over 90 PB of storage, and help shape future ICT solutions for research.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with the supplier (Bull) on the LUMI‑AI admin stack and architectural details.
• Ensure high availability, confidentiality and integrity of the supercomputing systems.
• Participate in system and service development together with other CSC groups.
• Contribute to the full computing system life‑cycle, from planning to decommissioning.
• Support end‑users during incidents and resolve team‑related problems.

Required profile

• Advanced Linux systems administration skills.
• Strong focus on information security.
• Experience adapting kernel patches and handling large‑scale systems.
• Technical leadership ability and willingness to mentor others.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Required skills

• Linux security and system patching (kernel and components).
• High‑speed, low‑latency networking.
• Parallel storage systems.
• Kubernetes orchestration and containerised workloads.
• GPU computing.
• Understanding of modern datacentre hardware.
• Linux kernel development experience.
