Software Engineering Manager - Bluetooth LE Link Layer

About the role

Silicon Labs is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead its Bluetooth LE Link Layer Software team in Espoo, Finland. The Link Layer delivers real-time protocol execution, scheduling, performance and interoperability for the Bluetooth LE software platform. The manager leads a team of embedded software engineers, partners with the Link Layer Architect on technical direction and works with globally distributed teams across IC Design, SDK, QA, Validation, Product Management, Applications Engineering and Customer Support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of embedded software engineers, build capability through hiring, onboarding, talent development and succession planning, and foster an inclusive, innovation-driven culture.
• Own the technical health of the Bluetooth LE Link Layer organization, partner with the Link Layer Architect on architecture and long-term strategy, and drive architecture, design and code reviews.
• Balance feature development, innovation, maintenance, technical debt reduction and software quality to ensure predictable delivery.
• Represent the team in cross-functional execution teams, coordinate priorities and dependencies across global teams, and communicate status, risks and commitments to engineering leadership.
• Promote modern engineering practices: continuous integration, automated testing, continuous delivery, DORA metrics, and responsible use of AI-assisted software engineering tools.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience leading software engineering teams delivering complex embedded software products.
• Strong people leadership with proven success in hiring, mentoring and coaching engineers.
• Several years of hands-on embedded software development in C, in resource-constrained real-time systems.
• Experience developing embedded communication protocols or wireless software, preferably Bluetooth Low Energy.
• Demonstrated success in globally distributed, cross-functional engineering teams.
• Plus: experience with Bluetooth LE Controller software, the Bluetooth Core Specification, radio firmware, RTOS (Zephyr or FreeRTOS), and the semiconductor or wireless connectivity industry.
