Senior Control Software Design Engineer

About the role

ABB's High Power division is looking for a Control Software Design Engineer to join its R&D organisation in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki. You will work on key R&D projects in power converters and, ideally, take on a senior role driving technology and software development and implementing features from the team's backlog. The work model is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Productize control software features with the team of experts
• Communicate actively with the project team and other stakeholders
• Maintain and develop simulation and verification environments

Required profile

• Familiarity with electrical engineering and high-power converters in solar power, battery energy storage and/or wind power applications
• Ability to implement and verify power converter control software design
• Relevant work experience in a comparable role is appreciated
• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in electrical power and energy engineering, automation or another relevant field
• Understanding of control theory is an asset
• Comfortable working in a software team and communicating in English

Required skills

• C++ and Python programming
• Use of simulation tools such as Simulink
