Researcher, Mobile Robotics and Intelligent Systems

About the role

We are looking for a permanent researcher to join the Clean and Sustainable Solutions innovation hub at Metropolia's Myyrmäki campus. The role focuses on mobile robotics, intelligent systems, AI, and data‑driven solutions for smart urban environments.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research, development and innovation projects on situational‑awareness systems using mobile robots, sensor networks and swarm intelligence.
• Build and maintain a sandbox environment for testing robotic and data‑intensive solutions.
• Identify new research opportunities and lead or support applications for external funding (e.g., Horizon Europe, Business Finland).
• Plan work packages, coordinate tasks with project partners, and contribute to consortium activities.
• Potentially grow into a team‑leader position.

Required profile

• Multiple years of state‑of‑the‑art research experience in intelligent, autonomous robotic systems, including swarm intelligence and AI.
• Doctoral degree with peer‑reviewed publications in a relevant field within the last three years.
• Hands‑on experience applying for Horizon Europe, Business Finland or similar funding programmes.
• Proven competence in planning work packages and managing tasks in multi‑partner projects.
