About the role
As a Software Engineering Manager at Elekta you will lead a specialist team developing advanced treatment planning algorithms that support cancer care worldwide. You will combine technical and people leadership with scientific expertise to bring innovative radiation‑therapy capabilities into clinical practice. The role involves shaping priorities, guiding the technical roadmap and ensuring high‑quality, compliant solutions for a regulated medical‑technology environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop a software engineering team focused on treatment planning algorithms.
- Define team priorities, goals and technical roadmap aligned with company strategy.
- Provide technical leadership in radiation therapy, mathematics, physics, AI, algorithm development and software architecture.
- Support collaboration and coordination across engineering, product, clinical and scientific disciplines.
- Hire, onboard, mentor and create an environment for high performance.
- Contribute to requirements engineering, architectural design and medical device documentation.
- Participate in risk management and uphold quality and compliance standards.
- Drive continuous improvement of development processes, tools and ways of working.
Required profile
- PhD in a relevant field or MSc combined with clinical radiation‑therapy experience.
- Experience in algorithm development or a clinical radiation‑therapy background with coding skills.
- Proven experience leading, coaching or managing technical teams.
- Strong knowledge of software development design principles and methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Collaborative working style with ability to build trusted relationships across disciplines.
