Visiting Researcher in Arts, Design and Architecture (Unfunded)

About the role

Aalto University's School of Arts, Design and Architecture (ARTS) offers unfunded Visiting Researcher positions for postdoctoral researchers and doctoral candidates; master-level students are not accepted. The position lasts a full semester or a full academic year, and the researcher organises their own funding. The school's research focuses on design, digital media, audiovisual representation, art, visual culture, welfare architecture, emerging technologies and urban planning.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake research and publish in collaboration with departmental personnel and independently.
• Prepare a lecture on the research topic within two weeks of arrival and possibly contribute to teaching.
• Participate in departmental meetings.
• Sign an Academic Visitor contract with the School upon arrival in Finland.

Required profile

• Postdoctoral researcher or doctoral candidate.
• Researcher from any country; preferred to have secured funding for the visit before applying.
• Applicants must contact the professor in the relevant department whose research matches their plans, and name that professor in the application.
