Postdoctoral Researcher in Organic Electronics / Plasmonics

About the role

The QD group at Aalto University is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to advance control of the emission properties of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) using nanoparticles embedded in the device. The work combines nanofabrication methods such as electron-beam lithography and OLED fabrication by evaporation and solution processing with characterization such as Fourier plane imaging, with the aim of commercializing the results. The project is led by Prof. Päivi Törmä.

Key responsibilities

• Develop novel nanoparticle array geometries for improved OLED device performance.
• Design, fabricate and experimentally characterize OLED devices using the department's cleanroom (Micronova) and the QD group's optics lab.
• Work closely with theorists in the group who simulate nanostructures and device optimization.
• Control specific emission properties such as polarization, color and angular distribution, and extract lossy modes of the devices.

Required profile

• PhD degree in a suitable field, or expected soon.
• Excellent record and hands-on experience in nano- and OLED fabrication, characterization and electronics.
• Good command of English, both spoken and written, and proven ability to communicate scientific results; Finnish is not required.
• Motivation to conduct research at the highest international level.

What we offer

• Salary of 4,229 to 4,649 euros per month, depending on previous experience, under a 2-year postdoc contract.
