Senior Software Engineer, Platform Delivery

About the role

Join Aiven’s global platform team to transform leading open‑source technologies into seamless cloud services. As a senior engineer you will help improve the scalability, reliability and feature set of the Aiven cloud platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and refactor APIs to boost platform functionality and performance.
• Write high‑quality, maintainable Python code and release features to production.
• Perform peer code reviews and engage in technical discussions across product teams.
• Contribute to system architecture, feature design, road‑maps and backlog management.
• Maintain strong unit and functional test coverage and advocate for software quality, security and performance.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best engineering practices.

Required profile

• Strong Python development experience.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud provider APIs (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code and container orchestration tools.
• Deep knowledge of Linux networking and production operations.
• Experience with managed open‑source data services such as Kafka, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, OpenSearch or ClickHouse.
• Understanding of distributed systems, micro‑services patterns and backend security principles.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
