Senior Design Engineer (Power Electronics)

About the role

ABB Oy, High Power division, is looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join its power electronics design group in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki. The division is investing in drive system development and strengthening its design organisation. The role reports to the Design Manager and is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Design, dimension and verify the main circuit and power electronics of frequency converters
• Specify verification tests and analyse results
• Create design documentation
• Research new components and power electronics topologies
• Cooperate with subcontractors and other design disciplines such as mechanics and electronics
• Mentor younger colleagues

Required profile

• M.Sc. in power electronics or a related field
• Relevant work experience in product development projects
• Fluent English, written and spoken; Finnish is an advantage

Required skills

• Knowledge of AC-to-DC, DC-to-AC and DC-to-DC topologies for electrical drives
• Deep understanding of power semiconductors and inductive components
• Demonstrated ability in filter design
• Proficiency in simulation tools such as Simulink
