Protection Relay Commissioning Specialist

About the role

Tekniq, an international consulting, recruitment and resource management company active in the energy, marine and industrial sectors, is looking for an experienced Protection Relay Commissioning Specialist. The role focuses on protection and control systems for substations, commissioning activities and technical problem solving, supporting the safety, reliability and availability of electrical networks. Most projects are based in Finland; international assignments are available but travel is optional.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and execute protection relay commissioning activities
• Monitor commissioning schedules, work plans and project progress
• Verify and test protection settings and parameters
• Troubleshoot, analyse and resolve issues found during commissioning
• Work closely with customers, project teams and other stakeholders
• Support engineering, design and specialist assignments when needed
• Depending on background and interest, also provide technical consulting, engineering design and help develop new solutions

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (B.Sc., M.Sc. or equivalent)
• Experience in substation commissioning in power generation, transmission, distribution or industry
• Good English communication skills
• Finnish or Swedish is an advantage
• Willingness to travel for site-based projects

Required skills

• Understanding of protection and control systems and relay protection principles
• Experience with protection relay systems from vendors such as ABB, Siemens, GE or Schneider Electric is beneficial
