Postdoctoral Researcher, Superconducting Quantum Circuits

About the role

The Kvantti group (Superconducting Qubits and Circuit QED) at the Department of Applied Physics, Aalto University, is looking for a postdoctoral researcher in experimental circuit QED. The group studies circuits of superconducting qubits and resonators, used in quantum computers, quantum simulators and supersensitive detection, with projects funded by the EU, the Research Council of Finland and Business Finland.

Required profile

• PhD in physics, electrical engineering or computer science, awarded or expected soon
• Excellent study records and a hands-on, proactive approach in the lab
• Preferred: prior research in superconducting device design and fabrication, cryogenic operation and measurements, microwave electronics, numerical simulations, quantum control or data analysis
• Candidates from other quantum-technology fields (quantum optics, trapped atoms/ions, NV centers, quantum materials) considered if strongly motivated to move to this field

Required skills

• Mesoscopic physics, nanoelectronics, cryogenics, microwave electronics and circuit design
• Clean-room techniques, simulations, data analysis and instrument programming

• Fixed-term contract of two years, with a starting salary of about 4,229 EUR per month, rising to 4,649 EUR depending on experience
