Fabrication Operator, Frontend Wafer Module

About the role

As a Fabrication Operator in the Frontend Wafer module you will work in IQM’s cleanroom in Espoo, producing quantum‑processor (QPU) and test wafers. The position is full‑time, on‑site and requires strict adherence to SOPs, safety protocols and cleanroom discipline.

Key responsibilities

• Execute front‑end QPU fabrication and metrology tasks following SOPs, work instructions and safety guidelines.
• Operate lithography, deposition, etch and wet/thermal tools, monitor equipment status and keep the production line moving.
• Run assigned production lots to meet daily throughput targets and log all activity in the MES.
• Detect and report process drifts, equipment errors or quality deviations immediately to the Production Engineer.
• Maintain cleanroom discipline, proper gowning, chemical handling and 5S standards at the workstation.
• Provide clear shift handovers and participate in weekly planning and reporting meetings.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of hands‑on experience in a cleanroom environment (semiconductor, pharma or medical devices).
• Degree from a university of applied sciences in engineering or equivalent work experience.
• Detail‑oriented, safety‑first mindset and ability to follow SOPs consistently.
• Strong technical communication skills and ability to work in shifts.

Required skills

• Cleanroom operation and contamination control.
• Experience with lithography, deposition, etch or wet/thermal process tools.
• Familiarity with MES (Manufacturing Execution System) data entry.
• Knowledge of 5S workplace organization.
