Electrical Application Engineer - ITO

About the role

GE Vernova is looking for an Electrical Application Engineer to join its Power Quality team in Tampere, Finland. The team works on harmonic filter and reactive power compensation solutions for transmission and renewable energy applications. You will support the development of technically sound tender solutions, turning customer requirements into engineering deliverables for transmission system operators, renewable energy projects and internal stakeholders. The role sits in the Inquiry to Order (ITO) phase, where RFQs, specifications and system data are turned into technical solutions, electrical dimensioning and tender-phase documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Work with key equipment in harmonic filter and reactive power compensation systems, including capacitors, reactors and resistors, and associated high-voltage equipment.
• Use engineering tools such as DIgSILENT PowerFactory, AutoCAD and other internal tendering systems.
• Review customer RFQs, specifications and technical data and turn them into technical solutions, electrical dimensioning and tender documentation.
• Prepare technical tender proposals and cost estimates aligned with customer requirements, engineering standards and internal guidelines.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to gather the information needed for timely tender submissions.
• Contribute to technical reviews, engineering discussions and clarifications, including customer-facing discussions where appropriate.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Background or interest in power systems, substations, grid connections, high-voltage or medium-voltage applications.
• Ability to interpret technical requirements and turn them into practical engineering solutions.
• Confidence communicating with sales teams, engineers, vendors and project teams.
• Professional proficiency in English; Finnish is an advantage.
• Direct experience with harmonic filters is not essential.

Required skills

• Familiarity with high-voltage or medium-voltage equipment is helpful.
• PowerFactory / DIgSILENT, PSCAD, Ansys, Creo or similar software is beneficial but not essential.
