Data Engineer, Snowflake & Data Platforms

About the role

ABB Drive Products is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to strengthen its Data & AI capabilities within Motion Drive Products and High Power Drives. The role reports to the IS Manager and focuses on designing, developing and continuously improving enterprise data solutions, with Snowflake as the primary data platform. It is based in Helsinki, Finland or Tallinn, Estonia, on a hybrid basis with regular on-site work at the offices in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki or Jüri, Tallinn.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable, high-performance data solutions using Snowflake, and optimize Snowflake workloads for performance, scalability, reliability and cost.
• Design logical and physical data models, including dimensional models and reusable enterprise data structures, and turn business requirements into scalable technical designs.
• Build data integrations across enterprise applications, databases, APIs and cloud storage, and contribute to data platform improvements and engineering standards.
• Ensure data quality, traceability, reliability and security controls throughout the data lifecycle.
• Maintain Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and deployment, and monitoring, logging and error handling for production data.
• Collaborate with Data Architects, Data Platform Owners, Data Owners, Data Analysts and business stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience, including substantial Snowflake experience.
• Valid working permit to Finland or Estonia; Finnish or Estonian is an advantage.
• Good English; manufacturing, industrial or global enterprise data experience is an advantage.

Required skills

• Data modeling (relational, dimensional, logical and physical) and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Python for data engineering, automation and integration.
• Azure data services, especially Azure Data Lake Storage, and Git, CI/CD and Azure DevOps.
• An advantage: Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, data governance, metadata management and data lineage.
