AOCS Engineer

About the role

As an AOCS Engineer you will apply attitude and orbit control expertise to ICEYE’s constellation of more than 40 Earth‑observation satellites. You will work across the full AOCS lifecycle, from design and verification to on‑orbit performance monitoring and anomaly resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and improve on‑orbit performance of AOCS components across the satellite constellation.
• Lead market studies and trade‑off evaluations for new ADCS and propulsion hardware, and integrate new AOCS components.
• Define, execute, and maintain verification procedures for AOCS hardware.
• Lead or support AOCS anomaly investigations, identifying root causes across engineering domains.
• Maintain and enhance operational procedures related to AOCS.
• Drive process improvements that affect the entire in‑orbit fleet.
• Collaborate with satellite operations, radar, mechanical, electronics, manufacturing, and product teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physics, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• 2‑4 years of experience designing, operating, or testing AOCS equipment or spacecraft hardware.
• Strong understanding of AOCS fundamentals, rigid‑body motion, differential equations, coordinate transformations, 3‑D geometry, feedback loops and state estimation.
• Solid knowledge of astrodynamics and attitude determination and control principles.
• Working knowledge of Python and Git.
• Experience with electronic laboratory hardware such as power supplies and oscilloscopes.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
