Antenna Engineer – Electronic Warfare Systems

About the role

Saab's Radio Frequency (RF) and Microwave Development team in Tampere is looking for an Antenna Engineer to design advanced antenna solutions for electronic warfare systems. You will own antenna development from simulation and prototyping through testing and product integration, working with system design, software, hardware and testing teams. The role is primarily based at the Saab Sensor Technology Center in Tampere, with occasional international travel possible.

Key responsibilities

• Design, simulate, prototype and optimise antennas for high-reliability applications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver effective antenna solutions
• Use simulation tools to optimise performance and validate designs through measurements
• Develop functional prototypes that meet technical and environmental requirements and ensure designs are manufacturable
• Create and maintain technical documentation in Finnish and English

Required profile

• M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics, with a focus on Electromagnetics
• Experience in antenna design, simulation and performance optimisation, with a solid understanding of electromagnetic principles
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Security clearance under the Finnish Security Clearance Act and a drug test are required; tasks involve defence secrecy

Required skills

• Antenna design and optimisation with simulation tools such as CST, HFSS or similar
• Understanding of gain, efficiency, return loss, radiation patterns and bandwidth
• Proficiency with measurement equipment such as signal generators, spectrum analyzers and vector network analyzers
• Advanced MATLAB skills are highly valuable
• An advantage: trade-off analysis, knowledge of antenna types, environmental testing and military equipment standards
