Senior Imaging Software Engineer

About the role

Axon is seeking a Senior Imaging Software Engineer to join its imaging team in Tampere. You will design and implement camera middleware and real‑time video pipelines for a range of products, including body cameras, dash cams, drones and future imaging platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and develop high‑performance camera middleware and video pipeline components across Axon products.
• Build multimedia pipelines using GStreamer and platform‑specific media frameworks, integrating image‑processing, computer‑vision and ML algorithms.
• Optimize pipelines for latency, throughput, memory bandwidth, power consumption and stability.
• Collaborate with camera HAL, firmware, image‑processing and hardware teams on interfaces and system integration.
• Debug complex issues across middleware, drivers and hardware, and provide technical leadership through reviews and mentoring.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, primarily in C/C++.
• Strong experience with camera, video, multimedia or high‑throughput processing pipelines on Linux or embedded platforms.
• Hands‑on experience with GStreamer or comparable multimedia frameworks.
• Deep understanding of buffer management, zero‑copy architectures, synchronization, multithreading and real‑time performance.
• Experience integrating image‑processing or computer‑vision components into production systems.
