Secondary Engineer - Substations

About the role

Hitachi Energy's Grid Integration business in Vaasa is looking for a Secondary Engineer. The business unit designs and delivers complete substations for distribution and transmission grids, and the role sits in an international project environment with opportunities in design, engineering, research and development. The position is full time, based in Vaasa, with no remote work.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of secondary design, from initial planning to final delivery
• Prepare and review substation documentation such as single line diagrams, protection and interlocking diagrams, AC and DC drawings, control and protection panel drawings, IED configurations, cabling and bills of materials
• Evaluate supplier proposals and accept equipment or services that are fit for purpose
• Provide technical support during pre-FAT and FAT stages, handle installation and commissioning, and take part in testing and commissioning
• Prepare project documentation within your scope of deliverables
• Collaborate with project managers, lead designers, planners, quality assurance and supply chain teams
• Promote continuous improvement and uphold safety and integrity

Required profile

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
• Fluent spoken and written English, and Finnish or Swedish
• Proactive, results-oriented, with strong teamwork skills
• Willingness to join international projects and to travel up to 20% domestically and abroad
• Previous experience with high and medium voltage substations is an asset

Required skills

• Design software such as E3, AutoCAD or PCM600 is an advantage
• Understanding of substation control and protection systems is beneficial
