Scientific Lead Oncology – Finland

Job description
About the role
AstraZeneca Nordic Marketing Company is looking for a Country Oncology Scientific Lead for Finland. You will hold the senior oncology advocacy role in the country, helping turn the national cancer strategy into real impact for patients and the healthcare system. The role focuses on country-level delivery within the local organisation, supported by strategic direction and standards from Nordic and global teams.
Key responsibilities
- Turn the oncology strategy into an integrated country scientific advocacy plan across therapy areas, and develop a clear country narrative and policy approach with Medical, Commercial, Market Access, Corporate Affairs, Evidence/RWE and other functions
- Coordinate the country medical readiness contribution to launch and lifecycle plans, including milestones, advocacy activities, roles, responsibilities and risk management
- Coordinate the clinical and medical contribution to HTA, formulary and guideline work with Market Access/HEOR and the relevant therapy areas
- Engage national oncology leaders, professional societies, registries, guideline bodies, payers and senior healthcare decision-makers in a compliant, non-promotional manner
- Identify barriers such as diagnostics, testing capacity, referral pathways and time to treatment, and lead collaborative initiatives with measurable outcomes
- Consolidate and prioritise country evidence needs, set up a local process for routing MSA insights into therapy-area plans, and connect with stakeholders, networks, registries and diagnostic partners to remove system barriers to evidence generation and trial delivery
- Line-manage the MSA team, including goal setting, performance and development discussions, recruitment, wellbeing and resource allocation, and guide MSAs on country governance, launch standards and cross-therapy-area coordination
- Build local medical capability through coaching and training in scientific advocacy, compliant engagement, insight-to-action, HTA-related medical contribution and launch excellence, and share learnings with Nordic and global colleagues
Required profile
- MD or advanced life-sciences degree, such as PhD or PharmD
- Significant oncology medical affairs experience in the relevant country
- Proven people leadership experience, including line-management of direct reports
- Excellent communication in Finnish and English
Required skills
- Strong understanding of the national healthcare system, HTA processes, clinical pathways and data/registry landscape
- Proven ability to engage scientific, clinical, policy and access stakeholders in a compliant, non-promotional manner
- Strategic thinking, prioritisation and ability to lead through influence in a matrix organisation
- Ability to use data, analytics and AI-enabled insights with scientific rigor, compliance and sound human judgment
- Desirable: experience across multiple oncology therapy areas, engaging HTA bodies, guideline committees, professional societies or registries, launch readiness, evidence generation, digital-first medical planning and coaching colleagues
Applications are submitted online in English, with a deadline of 18 November 2026.
