Project Engineer / Project Manager - Construction Projects

About the role

Turner & Townsend, a global consultancy with more than 22,000 employees across over 60 countries, is looking for a Project Engineer / Project Manager in Helsinki. You will support the team in cost consultancy and projects and take ownership of construction projects in the real estate sector, from concept through to completion, acting as a trusted partner to clients and leading multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project quality, schedules and costs in line with contract requirements.
• Lead the delivery of construction projects from initiation to completion.
• Create and assess cost assessments and budgets, and provide cost consultancy to projects and clients.
• Monitor construction costs, review site expenditures and support cost management.
• Manage project scope, programme, budget and resources.
• Lead, coordinate and motivate project teams including consultants, contractors and stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and act as a trusted advisor.
• Monitor performance across time, cost and quality and take proactive action where needed.
• Manage risks, issues and change control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Carry out regular site visits to review progress, quality and compliance.
• Oversee procurement strategies and manage supplier and contractor interfaces.
• Maintain governance, reporting and communication, and contribute to business development and continuous improvement.
• Review drawings, oversee works and structural construction, and supervise construction quality, inspections and material compliance.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent in construction management, engineering, architecture, real estate or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in project management or construction within the real estate sector, such as retail, healthcare, public sector or office projects.
• Strong track record delivering complex projects across cost, time and quality.
• Confident communicator with a professional and credible approach.
• Proactive and organised, able to lead projects independently and support teams and other project managers.
• Fluent in English and Finnish, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Recognised Project Management qualification is desirable; health and safety training or experience is a benefit.

Required skills

• Understanding of construction costs, budgeting and cost management.
• Experience with cost calculation tools and software.
• Solid understanding of project governance, contracts and delivery frameworks.
