Postdoctoral Researcher in Cloud and Network Computing

About the role

Aalto University's Cloud and Network Computing group, led by assistant professor Gopika Premsankar, is recruiting one postdoctoral researcher. The work sits at the intersection of multimodal large language models and networking, within an ongoing NSF-RCF joint project set in a public-safety communication context. The position is fully funded for 2 years, with the possibility of a longer stay.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead a research agenda covering semantic and context-aware networking, resource management in edge computing systems and AI-native network control.
• Design and build realistic simulators to generate data, evaluate algorithms and study network behaviour under dynamic conditions.
• Work closely with the principal investigator and international collaborators.
• Mentor PhD and Master's students and advance your own independent research profile.

Required profile

• PhD in computer science, telecommunications/electrical engineering or a related field.
• Excellent research track record in networking, MLLMs or LLMs.
• Demonstrated experience building and designing simulation environments.
• Experience developing algorithms for resource management is a merit.
• Ability to mentor doctoral and master's students and to collaborate with diverse research groups.
