Legal Counsel, Product & Privacy

About the role

Qt Group is seeking a Legal Counsel specialized in Product and Privacy to support its fast‑growing portfolio of software tools. The role will serve product, R&D and business teams, advising on open‑source and third‑party licensing, regulatory compliance and data‑protection matters across its dual open‑source/commercial model.

Key responsibilities

• Advise product, R&D and business teams on third‑party and open‑source software licensing under Qt’s dual licensing model.
• Support compliance with the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) for Qt Group products.
• Provide legal support for strategic product and R&D initiatives.
• Guide data‑protection (GDPR) and EU AI Act compliance across Qt products.
• Partner with Security, Product and Engineering to embed compliance into product decisions.
• Assist with product, privacy and licensing matters related to M&A and subsidiary integration.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in a relevant jurisdiction with experience in technology, software or IP law and regulatory matters such as EU CRA or EU AI Act.
• Practical experience with open‑source licensing (e.g., GPL/LGPL) and third‑party software licenses.
• Working knowledge of EU data‑protection law (GDPR); IAPP certification is a plus.
• Ability to advise directly on product and R&D decisions in a fast‑moving, multi‑product environment.
• Excellent English communication skills and ability to explain legal risk to non‑legal stakeholders.
