Doctoral Researcher in Chemical Engineering

About the role

Aalto University is looking for a Doctoral Researcher in Chemical Engineering for a funded position in an industrial collaboration project with Neste Oyj, focused on developing dynamic trickle bed reactor models. The project lasts four years, during which the candidate is expected to complete their PhD. The role is based at the Otaniemi Campus in Espoo.

Key responsibilities

• Develop dynamic models of trickle bed reactors based on literature, in collaboration with the industrial partner
• Collect and critically analyse relevant literature
• Build and analyse models for predicting dynamic reactor operation, including material and energy balances, reaction kinetics, mass and heat transfer, phase equilibria, fluid flow and process control
• Collaborate with the research group and external partners to achieve project goals
• Present findings at conferences and publish results in peer-reviewed journals

Required profile

• Motivated, research-oriented candidate with curiosity and a good understanding of mechanistic process modelling principles
• Good communication and collaboration skills
• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field
• Eligibility and admission criteria for the Aalto Doctoral Programme in Chemical Engineering
