National Programme Officer – Border Management, Returns & Readmission

About the role

The National Programme Officer will support and coordinate the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of IOM Finland projects related to border management, returns and readmission. Reporting to the Head of Office, the role works closely with IOM Finland units and regional thematic specialists.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing and delivering project activities on border management, returns and readmission.
• Monitor project progress, ensure compliance with results‑based management standards and prepare regular reports.
• Liaise with governmental authorities, UN agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders to facilitate project implementation.
• Support donor relations, including preparation of proposals and management of bilateral donor programmes.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing and best‑practice development within IOM Finland.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related field, with at least two years relevant experience, or a Master’s degree in the same fields.
• Proven experience working with migrants, refugees, IDPs, victims of trafficking or other vulnerable groups.
• Experience in liaising with government bodies, UN agencies and NGOs.
• Demonstrated project management and results‑based management experience, preferably with bilateral donor programmes.
