Software Design Engineer

About the role

ABB is looking for a Software Design Engineer to join its Global Manufacturing Support team in Vaasa, Finland. You will develop and maintain production test software for a worldwide distribution solutions business, working in a hybrid setting alongside skilled colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain test systems and production test software in a global environment.
• Program in LabVIEW and verify code against real product and test equipment.
• Collaborate with Operations, R&D, Quality and other functions to support global production lines.
• Work with ABB factories and electronic manufacturing suppliers worldwide, with occasional travel as needed.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Automation, IT or a related field.
• Several years of experience in a global industrial setting, preferably with production testing and software development.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and quick learning aptitude.
• Fluent English (written and spoken); Finnish is a plus.
• Team player with good communication and collaboration skills.

Required skills

• LabVIEW programming.
