Trade and Logistics Specialist

About the role

ABB Motion Center of Expertise – Logistics (CoE‑L) in Vaasa is looking for a Trade and Logistics Specialist. You will manage transportation and trade flows, optimise processes and ensure compliance with customs and trade regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with logistics service providers (LSPs) to place transport orders, give customs instructions and monitor shipment milestones.
• Exchange import and export transaction data with customs brokers and relevant stakeholders in a timely and accurate manner.
• Monitor LSP performance and service levels, ensuring they meet business and customer expectations.
• Calculate transportation lead times and costs, analyse deviations and justify overruns.
• Apply planning methodologies and use transport management systems (TMS) to improve operational efficiency.
• Prepare transport documentation and manage customer invoicing accurately.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of transportation, customs processes, trade regulations and compliance requirements.
• Generate cost, performance and operational reports to support decision‑making and continuous improvement.
• Drive continuous process improvement with a proactive mindset.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in industrial management, commercial studies or a related field.
• At least two years of practical experience with trade and logistics rules and regulations.
• Previous experience in transport management or freight forwarding.
• Fluency in Finnish and English, both written and spoken.
• Team‑player attitude with strong communication and collaboration skills.
