Purchaser – Procurement Specialist

About the role

Wärtsilä is seeking a Purchaser to support project execution through efficient procurement, supplier evaluation and negotiation, and accurate order management. You will work closely with project teams, strategic purchasers, logistics and engineering to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.

Key responsibilities

• Review purchase requisitions and evaluate supplier offers.
• Create and manage purchase orders in SAP.
• Conduct supplier negotiations and commercial discussions.
• Follow up orders to secure on‑time deliveries and confirm order details.
• Monitor delivery performance and address risks or delays proactively.
• Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier and delivery data.
• Collaborate with project teams, logistics and suppliers to align on requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar purchasing role with strong negotiation skills.
• Commercial or technical education (B.Sc. or M.Sc.).
• Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
• Analytical mindset, attention to detail and high‑quality data maintenance.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
