Project Controller

About the role

Join Helsinki Shipyard’s Finance team as a Project Controller, working closely with project management to steer the financial performance of shipbuilding and design projects. You will influence decision‑making, forecasting and overall project success in a fast‑paced, highly complex environment.

Key responsibilities

• Take financial responsibility for designated shipbuilding and/or design projects while working as part of the project management team.
• Coordinate project forecasting, monitor financial performance and identify risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as a trusted sparring partner to Project Managers, providing financial insights and constructively challenging assumptions.
• Collaborate with production, procurement, engineering and other cost‑responsible teams, reporting to both the Project Manager and Finance organization.
• Provide forward‑looking financial insights that support significant business decisions at various project stages.
• Prepare project forecasts and support status reporting for company and Group management.
• Develop forecasting, reporting, analytics and financial steering practices together with other Project Controllers.
• Help shape ways of working in an international project environment while deepening your own project‑business expertise.

Required profile

• Experience in a project‑driven business within the industrial sector.
• Comfort working with large amounts of data from diverse sources and formats.
• Excellent Excel skills; additional IT and data skills are a plus.
• Ability to turn financial data into actionable insights for business decisions.
• Understanding of forecasting, profitability and risk management importance for project success.
• Motivation to develop new ways of working rather than maintaining existing practices.
• Comfort collaborating across functions and with a wide range of stakeholders in project management and Finance.
