Professor in Ship Hydrodynamics (tenure track)

About the role

Aalto University is seeking an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Ship Hydrodynamics on a tenure‑track basis. The position will lead the Ship Hydrodynamics field within the Marine and Arctic Technology group, shaping research and education in a data‑driven, sustainable era.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead research on unsteady dynamic phenomena and hydrodynamic forces affecting ships.
• Design and supervise doctoral and master projects related to ship‑environment interactions.
• Integrate computational resources and data analytics into ship hydrodynamics studies.
• Contribute to curriculum development and teaching in marine engineering.
• Collaborate with industry partners and interdisciplinary research teams.

Required profile

• PhD in naval architecture, marine engineering, fluid dynamics or a closely related field.
• Strong publication record in ship hydrodynamics or related areas.
• Experience in leading research projects and supervising graduate students.
• Commitment to sustainable marine technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration.
