Process Engineer – Optical Fiber Manufacturing

About the role

We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our specialty optical fiber factory in Lohja. You will own and improve key manufacturing processes for silica‑based doped fibers using our proprietary Direct Nanoparticle Deposition (DND) technology.

Key responsibilities

• Control, monitor and optimise production processes in preform and fiber manufacturing.
• Lead continuous‑improvement projects to increase productivity, yield and reduce scrap.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality and R&D teams to develop new processes.
• Act as process owner for a defined set of manufacturing steps.
• Document procedures, generate reports and present findings to stakeholders.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in materials science, physics, chemistry or a related engineering discipline (M.Sc. or PhD preferred).
• Experience in clean‑room manufacturing environments handling chemicals, gases and high‑temperature processes.
• Proven track record in process optimisation, productivity and yield improvement.
• Strong analytical mindset with hands‑on problem‑solving ability.
• Fluent in Finnish and English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work across functions and quickly apply lessons learned.
• Citizen or permanent resident of Finland (or other Wassenaar country).

• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
• Statistical problem‑solving techniques.
• Process optimisation methodologies.
• Cleanroom manufacturing procedures.
