Global Category Manager - EMS, Motion Drive Products

About the role

ABB Motion, a global leader in motors and drives, is looking for a Global Category Manager for Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) within its Motion Drive Products business. The role reports to the Global SCM Manager and covers multiple locations (China, Finland, India and the US), with an on-site work model. It leads the global sourcing strategy, manages key supplier relationships, negotiates commercial agreements and drives cost optimization.

Key responsibilities

• Use the Continuous Improvement Process Sourcing (CIPS) process to plan and implement EMS sourcing strategies aligned with business strategy, ensuring suppliers have the capability and capacity to meet current and future needs.
• Plan and track procurement activities, cost budgets, emerging country spending and savings forecasts.
• Minimise quality and financial risk by buying in line with quality and commercial procedures and group/business area guidelines.
• Negotiate agreements with main suppliers, renew price lists and terms and conditions, and identify, investigate and select suppliers based on quality, delivery, cost and sustainability.
• Act as Supplier Account Manager for selected global EMS partners and define local and global standard agreements with major suppliers.
• Support cost-out programs and take part in setting budgets and targets for the global category, ensuring EMS sourcing performance targets are met.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management with a strong understanding of EMS manufacturing processes.
• Previous experience in budget and performance management.
• Fluency in English; other languages are a plus.
• Willingness to travel.
