Forward Deployed Engineer – Public sector, Nonprofit & Education

About the role

Salesforce is hiring Forward Deployed Engineers to design, build, and deploy agentic AI solutions for public sector, nonprofit, and education customers. You will work in a delivery team alongside a Deployment Strategist, delivering real code in production environments from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI agents and experiences that take real actions for organisations.
• Design agent intelligence – prompts, reasoning, tool calls, and system integration.
• Own technical components end‑to‑end, from architecture to production monitoring.
• Build and integrate data pipelines on Salesforce Data 360, Snowflake, Databricks, and other platforms.
• Create agent performance dashboards and KPI reporting.
• Contribute to proofs‑of‑concept and MVPs that move from sketch to deployable quickly.
• Co‑build with customers and partners, sharing best practices and enablement.
• Surface platform gaps and field insights to senior engineers and product teams.
• Partner with the Deployment Strategist to translate business challenges into ship‑ready solutions.

Required profile

• 3+ years of software engineering or technical delivery experience with at least one production system.
• Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Customer‑facing technical delivery experience (consulting, professional services, or forward deployed engineering).
• Fluent in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Apex and willing to expand as needed.
• Hands‑on experience with LLMs and prompt engineering.
• Deep understanding of data modeling, APIs, and integration patterns.
• Ability to engage with sales teams and customer architects.
• Commitment to shipping quality code and evaluating AI outputs with engineering rigor.
• Curiosity about emerging AI tools and willingness to travel ~25% of the time.
