Engineering Manager - Aviation SaaS

About the role

QOCO Systems, a fast-growing SaaS company serving airlines and MROs, is hiring an Engineering Manager in Espoo. This is a people leadership role reporting directly to the CTO, owning one of the core product areas with a team of roughly 5 to 10 engineers. The company's products are used daily in live operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of 5 to 10 people and run one of the core product areas
• Grow people through regular one-to-ones, honest feedback, career development and clear goals
• Hire and own the quality of the people joining the team
• Be accountable for predictability, quality and early surfacing of problems
• Work closely with Product on what gets built and in what order, and say no when needed
• Set the technical bar, make architectural decisions and scale the team's way of working as it grows

Required profile

• Several years of experience leading engineering teams as a line manager, not just as a tech lead
• A proven people leader who can point to engineers who grew under them
• Experience scaling a team and a product through a growth phase
• Strong software engineering background, enough depth to earn respect even though production coding is limited
• Experience with modern SaaS development and cloud environments
• Ability to work with Product and other stakeholders, including when priorities conflict
• Comfort with hiring: writing briefs, running the process and making the call
• Fluent English, written and spoken
• Highly valued: experience in a scale-up, building a team from a handful of people, and an interest in aviation or complex domains
