Design Engineer, Routing

About the role

Normet is seeking a Design Engineer, Routing to create cable, harness and hose routing solutions for underground mining and tunnelling equipment. You will work closely with production, prototype workshops and cross‑functional engineering teams to translate hands‑on insights into improved designs.

Key responsibilities

• Design and model cable, harness and hose routings for new and existing equipment using Autodesk Inventor and Zuken E3.
• Work on the shop floor and in prototype workshops to understand real‑world installation and feed findings back into design.
• Manage large CAD datasets and assemblies, ensuring structure, performance and data quality.
• Create and maintain item and BOM data in Sovelia, supporting engineering change requests (ECR/ECO).
• Support new product development and production ramp‑up with a focus on manufacturability, serviceability and installation quality.
• Harmonise routing practices, design rules and standard components across products, teams and sites.
• Identify and drive improvement opportunities in routing design methods, templates and reusable content.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (or comparable field).
• At least 2 years of experience in 3D design or product development, preferably with routed systems (hoses, cabling, harnesses).
• Experience in a multinational, matrix‑organized environment is an advantage.
• Fluent written and spoken Finnish.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor.
• Knowledge of Zuken E3.
• Experience using Sovelia PLM tool.
• Strong CAD modelling skills and ability to handle large assemblies.
• Basic understanding of electrical and hydraulic schematics.
