Staff Mobile Engineer - Retail

About the role

As a Staff Mobile Engineer in Global Retail, you will shape how customers discover, browse, and buy retail products across Wolt, DoorDash and Deliveroo. You will own key retail journeys within large‑scale B2C consumer apps, driving both iOS and Android experiences for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex cross‑team initiatives from design through launch, partnering with product, design and business stakeholders.
• Drive and implement native iOS and Android features within shared consumer‑facing apps, balancing speed, quality and maintainability.
• Advance our server‑driven UI (SDUI) approach, creating configurable, component‑based views.
• Set engineering standards for architecture, testing, release processes, observability and incident management.
• Champion AI‑enabled tooling to accelerate mobile development while maintaining quality.
• Communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Mentor engineers, including those transitioning to mobile, and uphold engineering culture.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in mobile development, especially the iOS ecosystem, with modern best practices and App Store experience.
• Proven experience at Staff Engineer level, leading cross‑team or cross‑org initiatives.
• Track record building large‑scale native consumer applications where ownership is split across multiple teams.
• Impact‑oriented mindset with a bias for action and ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Strong communication and influencing skills to align stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• Practical experience using AI as part of the engineering toolkit.
• Familiarity with Android development is a plus.
