Service Engineer – Commissioning for Marine & Ports

About the role

ABB is looking for a Service Engineer to commission and maintain ABB Azipod® electric propulsion units for its Marine & Ports division. The role involves extensive travel to customer sites and close cooperation with customers and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Commission, install, start‑up, test and maintain ABB Azipod® electric propulsion systems.
• Provide service and warranty support on operating vessels, including routine maintenance, extensions and replacements.
• Diagnose equipment failures, perform root‑cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
• Advise customers on optimal service solutions and build strong relationships.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in electric power engineering, automation or a related field.
• Willingness to travel up to 150 days per year, internationally.
• Good Finnish and English communication skills; additional languages are a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Commissioning and maintenance of electric propulsion units (ABB Azipod®).
• Mechanical service work and installation supervision.
• Use of MS Office applications for reporting and documentation.
