Senior Buyer

About the role

Mercury, the European leader in construction solutions, is seeking a Senior Buyer to join its Helsinki team. You will manage the end‑to‑end procurement process for complex engineering and construction projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and cost‑effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Own the procure‑to‑pay cycle from sourcing to invoice clearance.
• Mentor and potentially lead junior procurement staff.
• Develop procurement project execution plans and strategies for core commodities.
• Conduct site visits and collaborate with project and planning teams to create procurement schedules.
• Purchase equipment, materials and services, securing quality and timely delivery.
• Negotiate vendor alliances, rebate agreements and master service agreements.
• Assist with reallocation or disposal of excess materials and support proposal development.
• Ensure strict adherence to the Authority Matrix and create internal reports.
• Conduct complex bid processes, commercial evaluations and external reporting.
• Identify new suppliers and recommend sourcing strategies.
• Coordinate logistics for goods and services required by projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in a similar procurement role.
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to prioritize workload efficiently.
• Previous experience with ERP systems.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
