Production Manager – Pulp Mill

About the role

UPM is seeking a Production Manager to lead pulp production at the Kymi Pulp Mill in Kouvola, Finland. You will be part of the Eastern Finland Pulp Mills Management Team, contributing to strategic decisions and long‑term development of the mill.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily pulp production operations with a focus on safety, efficiency and stability.
• Develop production performance, cost efficiency and operational flexibility.
• Coach and develop the production organization and line management.
• Drive continuous improvement, problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis.
• Ensure compliance with EHS, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with maintenance, technical, reliability and other mill functions.
• Contribute to mill strategy execution and long‑term development.
• Act as a role model in safety leadership and UPM ways of working.

Required profile

• Strong leadership experience in industrial production or process industry.
• Solid understanding of pulp mill or other continuous process operations.
• Proven ability to drive performance, change and continuous improvement.
• Strong safety mindset with experience leading EHS performance.
• Analytical, fact‑based decision‑maker with business‑oriented thinking.
• Excellent people leadership and collaboration skills.
• Experience working with KPIs, targets and operational governance.
• Fluent in English; Finnish language skills required.
