Product Safety Engineer - Surface Drilling

About the role

Sandvik's Surface Drilling Division, part of the Mining Business Area, is looking for a Product Safety Engineer for a permanent position in Tampere, Finland. The engineer joins the Surface Drilling R&D organisation and ensures that Sandvik surface drill rigs comply with the safety requirements of each intended market. The role works closely with Engineering, Sales, Project Management, Product Line Management and Technical Services.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate risk assessments, functional safety analysis and product safety reviews in new product development projects
• Handle product safety incident management
• Gather and follow market-specific and international safety requirements and standards
• Develop and implement product safety processes for the Surface Drilling Division
• Create safety-related customer documentation
• Deliver internal product safety training

Required profile

• University degree (Master's or Bachelor's) in Engineering or Science
• Work experience in product safety and liability
• Knowledge of machinery safety regulations; familiarity with mining safety regulations is beneficial
• Professional-level English and the ability to write clear technical documentation
• Good communication, collaboration and presentation skills, and ability to prioritise in a dynamic environment
