Lead / Senior AI Platform Engineer - Fighting Financial Crime

About the role

Nordea is looking for a Senior AI Platform Engineer to help shape and scale its enterprise AI platform, which powers AI solutions that detect and investigate financial crime. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, helping teams adopt scalable, secure and responsible AI solutions. It is a permanent position that can be based in Helsinki, Tallinn, Stockholm, Copenhagen or Poland.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and evolve enterprise-grade AI platform capabilities supporting predictive, generative and agentic AI use cases.
• Drive technical leadership across engineering, architecture, data science and security teams to ensure successful platform adoption and operational excellence.
• Define engineering standards, production-readiness requirements, governance models and operational frameworks for AI solutions.
• Translate strategic AI ambitions into scalable platform capabilities, technical roadmaps and implementation guidance.
• Ensure platform resilience, security, cost efficiency and regulatory compliance through risk, incident and access management.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience designing, building and operating large-scale cloud-native platforms and production applications in enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with AWS, and familiarity with Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
• Hands-on software engineering with Python and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
• Experience leading technical discussions and managing stakeholder relationships.
• Ideal but not required: experience with shared platforms, internal developer platforms or enterprise services; MLOps, Generative AI, Large Language Models or enterprise AI adoption; experience in highly regulated sectors such as banking, insurance, telecom or government.
