Lead Engineer, Machine Sensors

About the role

KONE is seeking a Lead Engineer for Machine Sensors to own the technical development and lifecycle management of sensor technologies used in its elevators, escalators and building doors. The role combines innovation, supplier collaboration and support for product development, manufacturing and field operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and lifecycle management of machine‑related sensing solutions and components.
• Drive R&D and innovation activities, evaluate new sensor technologies and introduce them into future KONE products.
• Assess and manage supplier‑driven component and sensor changes throughout the product lifecycle.
• Define technical requirements, verify sensor performance and coordinate verification, testing and documentation activities.
• Support manufacturing, sourcing, quality and field operations with sensor‑related expertise.

Required profile

• M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Signal Processing or a related field.
• Strong practical experience in electronics, signal processing and sensor technologies, especially motion feedback sensors such as encoders, position or speed sensors.
• Understanding of sensor data acquisition, analysis, embedded systems and sensor‑related software interfaces.
• Experience leading technical development projects and coordinating multiple stakeholders.

• Python, MATLAB, Simulink (or similar engineering tools).
• Sensor qualification, verification and reliability testing.
