ESD & Safety Engineer for Spacecraft AIT

About the role

We are seeking an experienced ESD & Safety Engineer to lead electro‑static discharge (ESD) control and safety activities for spacecraft Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) at our Helsinki headquarters. You will ensure that flight hardware, personnel, facilities and test processes meet ESD, safety, cleanroom and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define, implement and maintain the ESD Control Plan for spacecraft AIT operations.
• Classify hardware by ESD sensitivity, specify EPAs, grounding concepts and ESD‑safe tools.
• Conduct regular ESD audits, inspections and investigations of incidents.
• Develop and enforce safety procedures, perform hazard analyses and risk assessments.
• Maintain lock‑out/tag‑out, access control and contamination‑control protocols.
• Monitor humidity, temperature and particle‑level requirements in cleanrooms.
• Deliver ESD and safety training, certify personnel qualifications.
• Collaborate with AIT, Product Assurance and engineering teams to embed ESD and safety requirements into designs and test configurations.

Required profile

• Motivated professional with proven experience in ESD control and safety engineering for aerospace hardware.
• Familiarity with ECSS‑Q‑ST‑20‑07 or equivalent ESD standards.
• Strong background in cleanroom environments, hazard identification and risk mitigation.
• Ability to work closely with cross‑functional AIT, product assurance and engineering teams.
