Electrical Construction Manager – HV Substations

About the role

H&MV Engineering is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Construction Manager specialising in high‑voltage (HV) substations. Based in Finland, you will support the delivery of complex electrical infrastructure projects across the region, ensuring safe, efficient execution and adherence to the highest technical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of HV substation construction projects from mobilisation through commissioning and handover.
• Develop, review and control construction schedules, resource plans and budgets in collaboration with the Project Manager.
• Lead on‑site construction activities, coordinating subcontractors, procurement, logistics and quality control.
• Monitor progress, identify risks and implement corrective actions to meet schedule, cost and quality targets.
• Ensure strict compliance with H&MV safety protocols and industry best practices, promoting a zero‑harm culture.
• Conduct regular site visits (minimum three days per week) across regional locations to oversee progress and resolve issues.
• Act as primary contact for clients, consultants, suppliers and regulatory authorities.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Construction Manager or Site Manager on HV substations, electrical infrastructure or BESS projects.
• Strong technical knowledge of HV electrical systems, substations, transmission and distribution networks.
• Successful delivery of large‑scale electrical engineering or grid infrastructure projects on time and within budget.
• Excellent leadership, organisational and decision‑making abilities.
• Solid understanding of health, safety and environmental regulations in electrical construction.
• Proficiency with construction and project‑management software and reporting tools.
• Willingness to travel extensively across the region (minimum three days per week on site).
