Design Engineer (Power Electronics)

About the role

ABB Oy, High Power division, is looking for a Design Engineer to join its power electronics design group in Pitäjänmäki, Helsinki. The group works on main circuit and power electronics design in product development projects, and project responsibilities will be agreed based on your background and experience. The work model is hybrid.

Key responsibilities

• Design, dimension and verify the main circuit and power electronics of frequency converters
• Specify verification tests and analyse results
• Create design documentation
• Research new components and topologies
• Cooperate with subcontractors and with other design disciplines such as mechanics, electronics and verification

Required profile

• M.Sc. in power electronics or a related field
• Knowledge of electrical drives' main circuit components
• Demonstrable experience in power electronics product development
• Fluent written and spoken English; Finnish is a plus
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Required skills

• Simulation tools such as Simulink
• Knowledge of industrial electrical installations, wind turbine drivetrains and/or DC grids is beneficial
