Data Center Project Engineering Lead - Development

About the role

The Data Center Project Engineering Lead will be the dedicated technical point of contact for the successful engineering execution of a data centre project. Based on‑site, you will bridge the engineering design deliverables with procurement, delivery and construction teams, ensuring compliance with Verne’s Design & Engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Translate engineering intent into a constructed, operational facility while following the Project Execution Plan.
• Apply the Project Engineering Strategy throughout all project phases.
• Participate in permitting, procurement and construction to guarantee alignment with engineering standards and technically compliant third‑party proposals.
• Ensure engineering documentation matches procurement requirements, delivery schedules and construction methodology.
• Lead design meetings, manage supply‑chain alignment and drive buildability.
• Act as the primary technical liaison for procurement and supply‑chain teams.
• Oversee specialist subcontractors with delegated design responsibilities and ensure formal review and sign‑off.
• Manage a team of discipline managers, ensuring technical compliance of suppliers.
• Inspect supplier factories, resolve technical non‑conformities and support construction teams in verifying installations against the Plan of Record.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data centre or large‑scale construction engineering projects.
• Strong ability to manage technical interfaces between engineering, procurement and construction.
• Leadership experience overseeing discipline managers and specialist subcontractors.
• Excellent understanding of engineering documentation, change management and compliance processes.
