Commercial Lead - Data Centre Projects (Vaala)

About the role

Turner & Townsend is looking for a Cost Management / Commercial Lead to strengthen its cost management services for data centre projects in Finland, ensure the successful delivery of complex construction projects and act as the main point of contact with clients. The role combines strategic leadership, business development and end-to-end cost management delivery, is based in Oulu and includes relocation support when a move is required.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and expand cost management services, identify new business opportunities and strengthen market presence.
• Build capability and secure the right resourcing to meet project and client needs.
• Lead and develop teams, uphold service excellence and ensure compliance with business management systems across contracts, risk, HSW, delivery and finance.
• Oversee contract execution and compliance, and monitor margins, fees and resource forecasts.
• Lead pre- and post-contract QS activities: feasibility studies, cost estimating (concept to detailed), cost planning, procurement, tendering and contract administration.
• Manage variations, cost checks, valuations, change control and final accounts.
• Produce cost plans, tender reports, monthly cost reports and post-contract financial updates.
• Drive value engineering, negotiate commercial outcomes and build relationships with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Improve cost management processes, templates and tools.

Required profile

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
• Minimum of 12 years' experience in cost management.
• Experience leading cost management commissions for large, complex construction projects.
• People management experience, especially managing a team delivering a project.
• Sound technical experience in all cost management areas and good knowledge of mechanical, process, electrical, plumbing, civil, structural and architectural aspects of construction.
• Experience in the Italian construction industry with knowledge of contractual documentation is advantageous.
