Camera & Imaging Intern

About the role

Skydio designs and manufactures fully autonomous drones that rely on advanced computer vision and machine learning. As part of the imaging team in Tampere, you will test and characterize camera modules for current and next‑generation products, design lab setups for testing, and may get involved in image‑quality analysis, ISP tuning, or the Qualcomm‑based camera software stack. This is a part‑time position alongside your studies with flexible hours.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build new lab setups and fixtures for camera and image‑quality testing, including the software that drives them.
• Test and calibrate new camera modules against defined requirements.
• Analyze measurement data and create visualizations and reports to guide design decisions.
• Contribute to image‑quality analysis, ISP tuning, optics simulations, or development on the Qualcomm‑based camera software stack, depending on interest.

Required profile

• Studying toward a degree in electrical engineering, optics, photonics, computer vision, computer science, or a related field.
• Genuine enthusiasm for hands‑on lab work with real hardware.
• Proficiency in Python or a comparable language for automating measurements, data analysis, and visualization.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Working proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with lab instruments or building custom measurement setups.
• Familiarity with image‑quality metrics such as resolution, noise, and color, and how they are measured.
• Experience with optical design or simulation software.
• Exposure to embedded Linux or Qualcomm ISP software stacks.
• Interest in cameras and photography.
