Algorithm Developer (Solver Engineer)

About the role

QOCO Systems develops SaaS solutions that help airlines and MROs turn complex data into smoother operations and less aircraft downtime; its Assignment product plans aircraft maintenance and relies on a solver. This role sits between algorithms and software: you will support the algorithm engineer on the solver and work with the development team to run it correctly in production.

Key responsibilities

• Support the algorithm engineer in developing and improving the solver
• Translate mathematical models and algorithms into working, maintainable code
• Work with the development team to implement and integrate the solver into Assignment, a live SaaS product
• Make optimization work reliably in production: performance, correctness and behaviour under real customer data
• Help the team understand what the algorithms do and help the algorithm side understand what production requires

Required profile

• Master's degree in computer science, applied mathematics, operations research or a related field, or one about to finish
• Genuine exposure to both computer science and applied mathematics during your studies
• Ability to write real code, not just prototypes, in a proper codebase with other developers
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Nice to have: hands-on experience with a solver (e.g. OR-Tools, Gurobi, CPLEX or local search solvers), experience with production software or SaaS, interest in aviation, and experience with Java

Required skills

• Solid grasp of mathematical optimization: linear and integer programming, constraint programming, combinatorial optimization, or scheduling and assignment problems
• Programming in a proper codebase with other developers
