Data Center Mechanical Engineer I

About the role

Google’s Data Center Engineering team is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to provide on‑site mechanical engineering support for its Finland campus. You will work closely with the Data Center Services Technical Project Manager to ensure that design, construction, and commissioning activities meet schedule, cost, quality, safety, and technical compliance requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver field mechanical engineering support and resolve issues for the Finland data center.
• Assist the Technical Project Manager in localized design and delivery of projects.
• Act as the primary liaison between Google, the Project Management Consultancy, Application Engineer, and Specialist Contractors.
• Coordinate mechanical field‑engineer efforts and oversee specialist contractors’ mechanical installation activities.
• Ensure construction operations comply with EHS, quality, and schedule requirements.
• Maintain effective relationships with all project stakeholders and travel up to 25% as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 3 years of experience managing construction projects.
• Hands‑on experience with data‑center equipment and environments (switchgear, generators, controls, security monitoring, fire‑safety systems).
• Experience in facility mechanical systems.
• Understanding of start‑up/commissioning processes and standard design‑construction practices.
• Fluent Finnish communication skills for client relationship management.
